Introduction

Entacall TPS provides a managed service for companies that are, or wish to be, Telephone Preference Service (TPS) compliant. The TPS enables individuals to register their objection to receiving direct sales and marketing calls with a central service. The Direct Marketing Association runs TPS, the Data Protection Registrar enforces the regulations.

What is the national TPS?

The TPS database already contains details of over 1.6 million subscribers who object to sales or marketing based telephone calls. This database is growing and is updated on a monthly basis.

Calling anyone registered on TPS can result in a fine of up to £x,000 per call. It does not matter if they are your customers. If you make a telemarketing call to anyone registered with TPS you are breaking the law.

A full TPS UK licence will cost an organisation ?500 per annum. This licence fee does not include the cross checking service to turn the TPS data into useful information. So your organisation would have the task of cross checking telephone numbers against the list of registered numbers provided on the TPS database.

TPS provides organisations with the opportunity to cleanse and update their UK TPS data at a fraction of the cost and complexity normally required if they were to do this activity themselves.

How it works:

Our TPS is offered as a feature of our Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS). We apply CPS services to your requested lines and once activated the line benefits from competitive call rates, as well as the automated checking against TPS barred numbers.

Our TPS identifies TPS registered numbers automatically as you make the call. It does this by checking the TPS database during call set-up for Entacall TPS registered Calling Line Identities. If the called number is matched against a TPS registered number the calling party will receive a brief call barred announcement.

The TPS database is updated on a monthly basis.

What if I have permission to call?

If you have permission to call a particular number, as determined in accordance with the national TPS register, you can use an override code to call that number.
